Complications of Myocardial infarction
Complications in myocardial infarction are often due to muscle necrosis. Complications are –

Contractile dysfunction

Arrhythmias – most common sinus Bradycardia, heart block (asystole), tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation

Myocardial rupture leading to hemopericardium and cardiac tamponade

Dresslers syndrome: Fibrinous or fibrinopurulent pericarditis

Increase in size of infarct with extension, often into right ventricle also

Mural thrombus leading to thromboembolism

Ventricular aneurysm
-
Progressive late heart failure due to chronic ischemic heart disease
