Lactating Adenoma

LACTATING ADENOMA

  • It’s a benign epithelial tumor composed of tubules lined by cells showing secretory change
  • This tumor is usually detected during lactation and pregnancy
  • It can also develop in the ectatic breast tissue which is found  in areas like axilla, chest or vulva
  • Grossly the tumor is well circumscribed mass
  • Microscopically the lesion is well circumscribed composed of closely packed glands lined by cells having abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm.
  • Hob nail pattern of cells and cells with cytoplasmic vacuolation may also be noted.
